Thought (aka consciousness/mind/intelligence/God) is One. This One is Oneself. Oneself seeks to negate its own Singlesness to escape alOneness (hence explaining the purpose behind the illusion of separation or the perception of otherness). There's nothing wrong with this. The purpose on the physical plane is simply to realize the aforementioned so unnecessary suffering can be eliminated in the understanding that the purpose is Love (Love equates to Companionship).
